March Reading Wrap-Up

With these reading wrap-ups I won’t include major spoilers, but it will include my general feelings towards the read, common knowledge about the book, and common tropes and themes within the book so if any of these qualify as spoilers for you then stop here! As always check books for any potential triggers you may have because I will quite literally read ANYTHING.

I know I’m behind sharing these but we’re catching up guys I swear. I was still trying to break out of that reading slump that hit me hard at the beginning of this year and while I loved these books you’ll see that hockey romance is ultimately what broke my slump. I’m not sure why I don’t just immediately dive into hockey romance when I notice a slump, I guess I’m stubborn like that, but here’s to killing the slump!

Broken by Andi Jaxon

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Okay so I love Andi Jaxon like so so much but this one took a minute for me to finish (though that’s probably more on my ADHD than it is on the book itself). I love the concept of the Unlucky 13 Series and love seeing the authors collaborating to create a series within the same universe while getting to experience each of their unique writing styles. With this series, you definitely need to check for any potential trigger warnings as it does contain some darker themes. My heart broke consistently throughout this book for the two MMCs but it made the HEA at the ending so much sweeter!

Madame by sara cate

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I’ve almost read this entire series but I’ve done it completely out of order I still need to read Roman’s book but when I saw Eden was getting a book I had to read it IMMEDIATELY! If you’re looking for some fantastic smut with an actual storyline then you need to check out the Salacious Players Club series. This was my first time reading a harem and I seriously loved it. Sara Cate does such a beautiful job writing poly relationships and you get to experience not only their relationship together but the individual relationships between Clay, Jade, and Eden.

Ice Bet by S.J. Sylvis

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I already featured Ice Bet in my hockey romance recommendations blog (check that out here) and if you read that you know I’m obsessed with hockey romance. I don’t think I’ve picked up a hockey romance that I’ve disliked at this point and this book is no exception. I read the first book in this series last year and loved it but completely missed it when this one released. I was absolutely reeling over the banter in this book. The tension between Riley and Aasher is just everything. Between being his coach’s daughter to flirting with his teammates for revenge it’s all tension even after they find common ground through their own ice bet.

Him by Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This one gave me so many feels. It’s so emotional for both Ryan and Jamie. Ryan is dealing with guilt from a previous encounter with Jamie despite being confident with his sexuality. While Jamie is dealing with a bi-awakening moment. The third-act breakup will absolutely tear you apart but don’t worry Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen know how to put you back together in the end.

The Graham Effect by Elle Kennedy

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Here’s another example of me reading interconnected books completely out of order! If you haven’t dove into the world of Elle Kennedy while each of these books are stand alone I would recommend starting with the Off-Campus Series then the Briar U Series and then make your way to the Campus Diaries Series. Don’t worry you’ll RUN through these books if you love hockey romance and each book is incredible. I will say if I had to pick a favorite I think The Graham Effect was it. Gigi is such a powerful FMC with a take no sh!t attitude and Ryder starts off as such a grump but when Gigi breaks through that wall this man is consistently on his knees for her!

The Deal by Elle Kennedy

Rating: 5 out of 5.

All I need to say to convince you to read this book is Garrett Graham. This man is one of the cockiest hockey players I’ve read but he’s such a cinnamon roll sweetheart when it comes to Hannah. I ran through this book in a day and love it so much. The fake dating trope is done so well here and you can literally feel the sexual tension between these characters.

The Mistake By Elle Kennedy

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I often struggle with loving second chance romance but not with The Mistake. Grace is a character I relate to so much because you see her go from a timid freshman in college to a confident sophomore. She really finds herself and for me, this is something I really love to see in an FMC because I’ve struggled to find myself and it helps me to see my own journey in a positive light. Despite his screw-up in the beginning Logan is a major golden retriever and seeing him work so hard to prove he’s worthy of Grace is the kind of commitment we all deserve.

The Score by Elle Kennedy

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I’m not gonna lie this was probably my favorite book out of the entire Off-Campus series. Allie-Cat is so feisty but so relatable (especially if you’ve had a messy breakup) and Dean is so confident yet you see his walls crumbling from the very beginning. This man falls and he falls so hard. If you struggle with themes of grief and loss be aware this is something you will encounter in this book. There are hard moments but as always with Elle Kennedy it’s so worth it for that beautiful HEA.
